A feature based on the dramatic London Iranian Embassy siege is currently in the pipeline from New Zealand director Toa Fraser.

6 Days is a NZ/UK co-production and will shoot mostly in New Zealand with some filming in the UK. Starring Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Abbie Cornish, it recounts the terrifying events of April 1980 when over twenty hostages were held by six armed gunmen at the Iranian Embassy in London.

Some of the former SAS members who finally stormed the building will serve as consultants on the film.

Fraser will once again work alongside screenwriter Glenn Standring and producer Matthew Metcalfe; the three were behind the award-winning 2014 Maori-language feature The Dead Lands, New Zealand’s official Oscar entry.

Metcalfe’s Auckland-based General Film Corporation is the main production company behind 6 Days, which is also financed by the New Zealand Film Commission, Lip Sync and Ingenious.
