The much-anticipated remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow is currently in pre-production in Wales with principal photography to get underway in mid-August.

The horror feature has bedded in at Pinewood’s new studio facility near Cardiff; some location shooting will take place in the Welsh capital too.

From LA-based Relativity Media, the film’s producers include Ryan Kavanaugh and Edward R. Pressman, with more Hollywood pedigree coming from executive producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein.

When the project was first announced, Wales’ First Minister Carwyn Jones said: "The creative industries are flourishing in Wales and the opening of Pinewood Studio follows on from several successful productions which have been filmed in Wales recently.

"It is excellent news and an important step in the ongoing growth of our creative Industries sector.”

Corin Hardy will be calling the shots from a screenplay by Nick Cave and Cliff Dorfman, based on the original comic book series by James O’Barr. Jack Huston was attached as the lead, but reportedly dropped out due to scheduling difficulties.
