Minnesota welcomes new Woody Harrelson film

Principal photography has started in St. Paul, Minnesota on Wilson, starring Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern, Judy Greer and Cheryl Hines.

The new film from The Skeleton Twins director Craig Johnson follows middle-aged hermit Wilson (Harrelson) who after a series of timely events reunites with his wife (Dern) and learns that he has a teenage daughter. With new information that he has child Wilson works diligently to find a way to connect with her. The screenplay is from Oscar nominee Daniel Clowes, based on his graphic novel of the same name.

Johnson said on the project: “I’ve been a fan of Dan Clowes’ cartoons and writing for years. I own all of his comic books and graphic novels, including Wilson, so when I got the script, I couldn’t quite believe it. It’s a privilege to be working on a project of this pedigree — a project written by Dan Clowes, starring Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern and brought to life by Fox Searchlight. I’m honoured to be part of it.”

Mary Jane Skalski and Jared Ian Goldman are producing and the film is scheduled to be released at some point in 2016.
