With Kingsman star Taron Egerton attached to star as the eponymous outlaw, the film will reportedly also see Bridge of Spies star Eve Hewson playing Maid Marian.

Egerton is due to shoot Kingsman 2 first, also in the UK, with the gritty take on the Nottingham Forest tale to follow in the summer of 2016, all being well.

Otto Bathurst is at the helm to direct from a screenplay by Joby Harold; the latter also produces with his Safehouse Pictures partner Tory Tunnell.

Harold has experience when it comes to Hollywood reimaginings of ancient English folk tales, with Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur among his many recent credits.
