Nicolas Cage filming new thriller in Atlanta

Nicolas Cage will start filming new thriller Vengeance: A Love Story in Atlanta next month. The movie starts international sales this week at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.

The film is based on the 2003 novel Rape: A Love Story and tells the tale of a soldier-turned-policeman who champions the rights of a young daughter of a rape victim when her mother’s attackers are exonerated.

Atlanta is one of the top production centres in the US because of its generous filming incentives and extensive studio and production facilities.

Marvel has become a long-term resident in the city. Captain America: Civil War filmed locally last year and production starts this week on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, director James Gunn’s superhero sequel that reunites a group of intergalactic criminals (pictured) including a wisecracking raccoon.

Production in Georgia is focussed on Atlanta, but other parts of the state are beginning to build their own filming appeal.

Savannah in the east recently hosted Channing Tatum’s male-stripper sequel Magic Mike XXL and will double for California in a big-screen version of Baywatch.
