Vin Diesel’s xXx sequel swaps Philippines for Dominican Republic

Despite an earlier announcement from actor Vin Diesel, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will not be filming in the Philippines but has opted for Pinewood in the Dominican Republic instead.

Most of the movie will still be shot in Toronto, Canada, as previously announced but the production is adding additional filming at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios.

A statement reveals that it will be utilising the studio’s 8-acre Horizon water tank on the island. Production services for the film will also be provided by Pinewood Dominican Republic Production Services.

Revolution Studios, Roth Kirschenbaum Films and Vin Diesel’s One Race Films will produce the latest film in the 'xXx' franchise, which was been written by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen).

In the movie government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is coming out of his self-imposed exile and finds himself on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box.

According to a press statement from the studio, the feature film “will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film”.

It has been a good week for Pinewood in the Dominican Republic as Netflix announced last week it is to film a new action comedy series at the studio.
