Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd will play a married couple in new comedy feature Ideal Home that will film in Santa Fe, New Mexico, through to mid-June.

The movie is being directed by TV veteran Andrew Fleming, who previously worked with Coogan on the comedy film Hamlet 2 (pictured) back in 2008.

New Mexico is a top US production hub with a generous filming incentive, although the state offers greater support for TV production than for film.

The south-west state is a particular draw for science-fiction projects across both film and TV, with recent productions including feature The Space Between Us, alien invasion sequel Independence Day: Resurgence and a pilot for US network the CW that’s still known as Untitled Mars Project.

New Mexico’s desert locations make it an ideal Old West setting too. Amazon Studios recently wrapped the 1860s-set TV pilot Edge and a remake of The Magnificent Seven also filmed locally. Netflix drama Godless, also set in the 1800s, will reportedly shoot in the state as well.

Last year’s acclaimed cartel thriller Sicario filmed in New Mexico and the film’s locations team S Todd Christensen and Shani Orona recently won recognition for their work at the Location Managers Guild International Awards.
