Warner Bros. China has inaugurated its Beijing office, housing teams including the company’s film and TV branches.

“Warner Bros. has been producing world-class films and TV shows for almost 100 years and we look forward to sharing our expertise with our partners in China as well as with up-and-coming talent to benefit the entire entertainment industry,” said Kevin Tsujihara, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros., in comments at the inauguration reception.

“And, in the spirit of true cultural exchange, we are eager to learn from our partners and share great Chinese stories with audiences around the world.”

Warner Bros. has a long history of working with China. In 2015 the studio opened Flagship Entertainment Group in Hong Kong with China Media Capital to co-produce Chinese-language productions for distribution in China and internationally.

Hollywood is generally getting more involved with China’s production industry as a way of getting past the country’s restrictions on international film releases and to get better access to the lucrative Chinese market.

Pinewood Studios is among the western film companies to already have a presence in Beijing through Pinewood China. The representative office opened in the capital in September last year. Pinewood’s Chinese services include consulting on studio design and post-production.
