The BBC’s military drama series Our Girl is filming scenes in Nepalese capital Kathmandu for its new season.
Michelle Keegan (pictured) stars in the story of a female soldier on international deployment with the British Army.
For the past couple of seasons Our Girl has used Cape Town as a double for Afghanistan, and will continue to do so for concurrent story strands in the extended new series.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be back in action, filming the new series of Our Girl right now in Kathmandu and Cape Town, with Michelle Keegan reprising her role as the inimitable Corporal Georgie Lane,” said Caroline Skinner, an executive producer on the show for BBC Studios.
“With an expanded 12-part series commission, this time Our Girl will follow our characters on three distinct missions in far-flung, dangerous parts of the globe – and we cannot wait to bring their new adventures back to BBC One later this year.”
Kathmandu previously hosted scenes for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, despite the challenges of Nepal’s production support.
“The limited filming infrastructure for a studio film [in Kathmandu] required us to establish unorthodox shooting methods but we received fantastic and enthusiastic support from the city and our local production services Durbar Associates and Mountain Tiger,” said Jamie Lengyel, supervising location manager on Doctor Strange, in a previous interview with KFTV.
