Benedict Cumberbatch’s next TV drama is gearing up to shoot in New York, London and the south of France.
Shooting begins in August on new series Melrose, which will be delivered to Showtime and Sky Atlantic as a 5 x 60. One Day writer David Nicholls has adapted the semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St Aubyn about Patrick Melrose, an aristocratic and outrageously funny playboy who battles to overcome his traumatic childhood.
Cumberbatch also executive produces with Adam Ackland, his partner at London-based SunnyMarch Productions, as well as Michael Jackson and Rachael Horovitz of Two Cities Television.
Melrose will be the second project the Sherlock actor has starred in and executive produced, having recently completed work on the BBC feature-length adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel The Child in Time.
