Action drama The Brave is using Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico as a production base and is doubling the south-west US state for multiple global locations.

The show follows the exploits of a squad of undercover military specialists who take on secret missions around the world from a base in Washington, DC.

Dean Georgaris, the show’s creator, told the Albuquerque Journal which parts of the world are being recreated locally.

“We’re in Nigeria for the second episode. Then the Ukraine. Then we’re going to use the old prison out near Santa Fe to play an Afghan prison because it looks like one.

"Then we have an episode in Mexico and a South America episode. It’s great.”

Production on the full series of The Brave started in July and is scheduled to continue through to the end of the year in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

New Mexico is a hugely popular US filming location and has the best tax breaks in the country for desert settings. State figures released last month revealed that production spending soared by 30% in the 2016-17 financial year.
