Marvel’s fourth, as-yet-untitled Avengers movie has wrapped six months of filming in Atlanta.

The movie is a direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, which will be released internationally in April this year. The untitled follow-up will arrive in cinemas in spring 2019.

Marvel’s Avengers movies unite many of the superhero studio’s most popular characters as ensemble casts, with the likes of Thor, Captain America and Iron Man playing key roles.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios has become a long-term base for Marvel. The facility offers 18 separate stages, the largest of which spans 40,000 sq ft, and Georgia has a major financial appeal through its generous filming incentives.

Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise of movies has spanned nearly 20 films since launching with Iron Man in 2008. The studio will release Black Panther and Ant-Man and the Wasp this year in addition to Avengers: Infinity War.

The MCU has become the long-term franchise model for Hollywood to aspire to, but so far only Lucasfilm – which like Marvel is now a Disney subsidiary – has shown an ability to emulate its success, having produced a new series of Star Wars movies in a few short years.
