Drama The Little Drummer Girl, a co-production between the BBC and AMC, has filmed Greek locations as Palestine and Lebanon.

The Ink Factory is producing the series as an adaptation of the novel of the same name by iconic espionage author John le Carre.

Park Chan-wook is directing the 1970s-set story of an actress who becomes embroiled with an Israeli intelligence officer while on holiday in Greece.

Over the course of the shoot’s three-week Greek filming leg, the production team used Elefsina near Athens as a stand-in for Lebanon, while Nikaia, a suburb of Athens, doubled for Palestine.

Locations such as the Acropolis (pictured) and the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio were used as Greek story settings during the shoot.

“The variety and scope of filming locations available in Greece has made it the perfect place in which to bring The Little Drummer Girl to life,” said Simon Cornwell, executive producer and co-CEO of The Ink Factory.

“The stunning locations we were able to choose would have justified coming to Greece under almost any circumstances, but on top of that, the generous support of numerous arms of government and the highly talented crew and support team at our wonderful partners Faliro House, has made the shoot one to remember and repeat.”

The Greek leg of The Little Drummer Girl was made with a predominantly local crew and just under 100 individuals flown in from the UK. Production began on the series in February, with filming scheduled for countries across Europe.

Greece recently launched its first formal filming incentive, with producers able to claim a 25% cash rebate when they spend at least €100,000.
