Visual effects company Scanline VFX is set to boost Montreal’s post-production industry when the company opens an office in the Canadian city next month.

The Montreal office will be the firm’s fifth base – the company has studios in Los Angeles and Vancouver, and in Munich and Stuttgart.

Scanline was responsible for hundreds of visual effects shots on Marvel movies Black Panther (pictured) and Ant-Man and the Wasp, and has also worked on Justice League, Aquaman and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

“Greater Montreal has become one of the world's largest VFX and animation hubs, with an estimated 27% growth over the last 10 years,” said Hubert Bolduc, president and CEO of Montreal International, the city’s economic development agency.

“The arrival of Scanline VFX will further enhance our thriving ecosystem while strengthening our position as a creative and innovative business city in the eyes of international high-tech companies.”

Scanline’s arrival in Montreal comes just a few weeks after Technicolor announced it would be opening a facility in the city for its Mill Film brand.

Montreal is a popular international production hub in Canada and has been a base for both the X-Men and John Wick movie franchises.
