Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones will reunite for period ballooning movie The Aeronauts that starts filming in and around London in the coming weeks.

The movie is based on the true story of a pair of British aeronauts who, in 1862, attempted to fly higher in a hot-air balloon than anyone had before.

The Theory of Everything

Mandeville Films’ Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are producing with Tom Harper directing from Jack Thorne’s screenplay. The film is being made for Amazon Studios.

Jones and Redmayne previously worked together on The Theory of Everything (pictured), based on the life of the late physicist Stephen Hawking. Redmayne won an Oscar for his performance and Jones was nominated for her role as the scientist’s first wife Jane.

Redmayne will come onto The Aeronauts from his starring role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second movie in JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them story franchise, which also filmed in London.

Jones recently starred in the London-based Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
