A new Men in Black movie has started filming in the UK with stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson headlining.
The production is pitched as a spinoff from the main Men in Black franchise – that starred Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith – and features a new set of characters.
The Men in Black movie brand was first launched in 1997 as a quirky sci-fi comedy and was a surprise hit. Nonetheless, it took five years for a sequel to materialise and another decade for a much-maligned third chapter.
All three previous movies were set in New York and largely filmed there, with studio work also taking place in California.
The new film marks the brand’s first venture to the UK. In some ways it’s a predictable move given that London is long established as a major international production hub and is a key competitor for both Los Angeles and New York in terms of attracting big-budget Hollywood shoots.
