Avengers star Chris Hemsworth is set to film child kidnapping thriller Dhaka on location in India and Thailand.

Hemsworth will star as a mercenary who is recruited to rescue a young Indian boy being held captive somewhere in the Bangladeshi capital.

Beyond Hemsworth’s involvement, the key creative team on Dhaka includes multiple veterans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The script is written by veteran Marvel director Joe Russo and the movie is being directed by Sam Hargrave, a stunt expert who has previously worked with Joe Russo and his brother Anthony on two Captain America films and this year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

India is an unusual location filming choice and is only infrequently chosen by foreign production teams. The country is viewed internationally as a location filming challenge with hectic cities, a lack of formal filming incentive support and, in the past, issues with local government corruption.

Thailand launched a filming incentive at the start of last year and is a particularly popular location for TV and commercial productions from Japan, China and the UK.
