The series comes from renowned US writer/director Douglas Petrie, a veteran of recent Marvel TV series The Defenders and Daredevil.
“Spectros will bring us unique stories deeply rooted in Brazilian culture that touches upon universally appealing themes of love, vengeance and redemption, making it an exciting show for everyone,” said Erik Barmack, vice president for international originals at Netflix.
“We are thrilled to bring the Liberdade untold stories to Netflix members around the globe while showcasing the many facets of Latin America’s largest city.”
Spectros is just the latest TV drama that Netflix is backing in Brazil. Back in July, the streaming giant announced The Faction, the story of a woman forced to inform on a criminal gang led by her brother.
