Batman prequel Pennyworth begins UK filming

Warner Horizon’s Batman prequel drama series, Pennyworth, begins filming today in the UK.

The 10 x 60 for Epix centres on Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and explores the former special forces officer’s early years in London and the time during which he worked for Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas.

British actors Jack Bannon (pictured) and Ben Aldridge play Pennyworth and Wayne respectively, casting news first reported on Deadline.

Bruno Heller, who created existing hit prequel series Gotham (also for Warner Horizon) has developed Pennyworth alongside Danny Cannon – the duo also executive produce.

Warner Horizon is also busy in the UK with the second series of Krypton that began filming in Belfast earlier this month.
