Hill House built on Atlanta stage for Netflix drama
Netflix’s TV drama The Haunting of Hill House filmed key scenes on stages at EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Atlanta, where the eponymous residence was built.

Netflix’s TV drama The Haunting of Hill House filmed key scenes on stages at EUE/Screen Gems Studios Atlanta, where the eponymous residence was built.
Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, the drama follows the disparate members of the Crain family as they confront childhood traumas and trace them back to a summer spent in the apparently haunted Hill House 20 years previously.
Flanagan's story is loosely based on the renowned 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson,
Whereas in the story Hill House is situated somewhere near Boston in Massachusetts, producers chose to construct the building’s interiors as a walk-through set over two storeys at EUE/Screen Gems.
The historic Bisham Manor in the city of LaGrange, 60 miles south-west of Atlanta, was used for exterior shots of Hill House.
Georgia is one of America’s top production hubs and Netflix is a regular visitor. The streaming giant has filmed three seasons of the nostalgic, 1980s-set drama Stranger Things in and around Atlanta, doubling the city for suburban Indiana, while crime drama Ozark has shot rural Georgia as Missouri.
