Woody Allen is set to film a new movie on location in Spain with stars Christoph Waltz and Gina Gershon.
Though not yet formally titled, the film is being referred to for the moment as WASP2019 and will be set against the backdrop of Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival.
The story follows a married American couple who each fall in love with different people while visiting the film festival.
MediaPro is producing, marking the fourth time the company has worked with Allen.
“This latest movie has all the ingredients to be right up there along with what we’ve become accustomed to from a director of Woody Allen’s talent: an intelligent script and a first-rate international cast,” said Jaume Roures, a founding partner at MediaPro.
“In addition, we’re delighted to be able to shoot the movie in a city such as San Sebastian, which has such strong ties to cinema.”
Allen will shoot the new movie through July and August.
The MediaPro Group recent launched The MediaPro Studio that will involve opening ‘creative offices’ around the world as part of a €200m global investment plan.
Last year, Netflix chose Spain for the site of its first European production hub, leasing sound stages at Ciudad de la Tele (TV City) near Madrid.
