UK Focus – The Great with Elle Fanning

Period drama The Great is currently setting up in pre-production in the UK readying to film later in the year, with Elle Fanning starring as Catherine The Great.  

Following a pilot last year – that also shot in the UK – Hulu has now greenlit a full series run of the show, described by the SVOD company as “a genre-bending, anti-historical ride through 18th Century Russia following the wildly comic rise of Catherine the Nothing to Catherine the Great”.

Fanning also executive produces the show and stars alongside Nicholas Hoult. The Great comes from LA-based MRC (Media Rights Capital) and creator/writer/exec producer Tony McNamara. 

Other Hulu productions to have used the UK recently include a TV version of Four Weddings and a Funeral and drama The Light – also destined for C4 – which began filming in Wales in late April.
