Disney’s latest live-action film inspired by one of their cartoon characters, Cruella, is readying for production in the UK.
The feature is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel and Steve Zissis. Emma Stone stars as the eponymous super-villain Cruella de Vil; little else is known about the project in terms of the time setting.
The UK has become a second home to Disney over the last few years as the company expands its canon of live-action remakes, mainly using Pinewood Studios as its base.
Maleficent 2, Artemis Fowl and Aladdin are the most recent feature films to have shot in the UK for the US studio giant.
Inward investment projects in the UK currently make up a massive percentage of the overall production spend, with BFI figures showing that, in 2018, incoming film projects contributed £1.6bn to the UK economy in 2018.
