Zack Snyder’s zombie film Army of the Dead, starring Dave Bautista, is set to film in New Mexico between August and October, confirmed Todd Christensen, the New Mexico State Film Office director.

The production is being shot in Albuquerque Studios, as well as Santa Fe Studios and at outside locations across New Mexico, according to Bruce Krasnow, spokesman for the New Mexico Economic Development Department.

The film will employ 501 New Mexico crew members, 20 New Mexico actors, and 2,163 New Mexico background talent, added Christensen.

Army of the Dead is a Netflix production about a group of mercenaries who, following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

The film is to be the start of more big productions to come to New Mexico, according to Krasnow, following Netflix’s acquisition of ABQ Studios.

"Netflix is making good on its promise, as part of the 2018 partnership with New Mexico, to bring $1bn dollars in production to New Mexico over the next 10 years and create up to 1,000 production jobs a year," said cabinet secretary Alicia J. Keyes of the New Mexico Economic Development Department.

Army of the Dead is also shooting in Atlantic City, New Jersey, confirmed Netflix.
