Apple greenlights Masters of the Air TV series

Marking the first series to be greenlit with Apple serving as the studio, the company has partnered with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone on international limited series Masters Of The Air.

The project will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ and is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name that follows the personal story of the American bomber boys in the Second World War who flew raids over Germany.

Masters Of The Air reunites Spielberg, Hanks and Goetzman after their work together on Band Of Brothers and The Pacific.

Spielberg will serve as executive producer through Amblin Television alongside Hanks and Goetzman for Playtone.

Graham Yost (Band Of Brothers, Justified) is co-executive producer with Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey and Steven Shareshian of Playtone. John Orloff (Band Of Brothers) is writing the series and also serve as co-executive producer.

Masters Of The Air is the second project for Apple to hail from Spielberg’s Amblin Television after Amazing Stories. Apple’s international drama series announced so far include Pachinko and Shantaram.
