The Last Letter From Your Lover begins filming in Majorca

Shooting has begun in Majorca on romantic drama The Last Letter From Your Lover, starring Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley, Callum Turner, Joe Alwyn and Ncuti Gatwa.

Shooting kicks off this week at the Royal Hideaway Formentor hotel in Majorca for the project, which is being produced by the UK’s Blueprint Pictures and Canada’s The Film Farm. Local facilities company, Palma Pictures, are also heavily involved. While Jones and Woodley are serving as executive producers.

The film is an adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ novel about a young journalist in London, Ellie (Jones) who uncovers a series of love letters in the archives which tell the story of a 1960s affair between Jennifer Stirling (Woodley) and Anthony O’Hare (Turner), and is determined to find out how it ended.

It will be the second feature for Frizzell, who previously made Sundance 2018 comedy-drama Never Goin’ Back. She also directed the pilot of HBO’s Euphoria.

Studiocanal is fully financing the film and distributing in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. It is also handling sales worldwide.

Moyes’ 2012 novel Me Before You was adapted into a 2016 film of the same name starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. It grossed £9.7m in the UK through Warner Bros and $208.3m (£170.1m) worldwide. 

Once filming finishes in Majorca, the production will move to the UK.
