UK filming underway on Venom 2 with Tom Hardy

The sequel is the latest in a hefty line-up of inward investment projects shooting in the UK

Principal photography is underway in the UK on Venom 2, the follow-up film starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist with superhuman powers.

Michelle Williams returns as Brock’s ex-fiancée Anne Weying with Andy Serkis calling the shots from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel – who also wrote the first film.

The sequel joins a clutch of other high-profile inward investment projects filming in the UK, including Disney's Cruella, Marvel's Eternals and George Clooney's adaptation for Netflix of Good Morning, Midnight.

Venom was the first film in Sony’s Marvel Universe. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and filmed largely in New York and Atlanta, it went on to take more than $850m worldwide.

Hardy recently finished exec-producing a new iteration of A Christmas Carol for BBC One, with Guy Pearce as Scrooge and Stephen Graham as Jacob Marley.
