Samanes Prat has worked in the screen sector for years, most recently as CEO in Latin America of Grupo Secuoya. He also worked as a director in Murcia, founded Trece (13 TV) and was CEO of the Nacional Popular Network.
His new role is aimed at raising the profile of Peru as a filming location.
Mediapro’s experience delivering content from Peru so far includes the broadcast of the XVIII edition of the Lima 2019 Pan American games and the sixth Parapan American Games Lima 2019.
Mediapro’s presence in South America to date has been through its offices in Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Bolivia; the group has a total of 58 bureaux in 36 countries worldwide.
Although Peru does not have a government-run film commission or a network of studios, it does offer stunning physical landscapes and historic sites such as Machu Picchu. Major cities like Lima (pictured) provide production companies and post-production houses.
