Ted Lasso 2 readies for London shoot

The series is one of a swathe of SVoD commissions currently based in the UK, including major projects for Apple, Disney+, Amazon and Netflix.

The second series of Warner Bros. Television and Apple TV+’s comedy Ted Lasso is in pre-production at a London studio, readying to begin filming in January.

The comedy was created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on a character that Sudeikis played in a series of promotional spots for NBC, when the US broadcaster began airing English Premier League games in 2013. The network then brought ‘Lasso’ back the following year as an analyst.

The first series premiered in August 2020 and within a week was renewed for a second run and subsequently a third.

Sudeikis also executive produces alongside Lawrence and Jeff Ingold via Doozer Productions; Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television produce.

The series is one of a swathe of SVoD commissions currently based in the UK, including major projects for Apple, Disney+, Amazon and Netflix. Although England is currently in a second lockdown, crews are allowed to continue working as they fall under the category of those unable to work from home. All productions in the UK are following the Covid safety guidelines greenlit by the government in the summer.
