Netflix’s crime-thriller series Jigsaw is set to be the first production to film at their new Bushwick studio in Brooklyn.
The recently opened 170,000 square foot studio has six sound stages where it has enough space to film two TV shows at the same time or one blockbuster movie. It also includes editing suites, meeting rooms and a commissary.
Inspired by a true story, Jigsaw centres on the largest heist ever attempted involving $70bn in bond that went missing in downtown Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy.
The cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney and Niousha Noor.
Creator Eric Garcia will act as showrunner and executive produce on the series. He is also joined by executive producers Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker and Jordan Sheehan at Scott Free Productions; Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Justin Levy with Automatik Entertainment; and Russell Fine.
Since 2015 projects produced in New York have significantly increased thanks to a state tax incentive program that provides $420m a year in giveaways to attract productions.
