Netflix's romantic drama Love in the Villa to film in Verona

The movie will shoot at several historic locations around the famous Italian city from this month

Netflix’s Love in the Villa will start filming in Verona from this month with The Umbrella Academy star Tom Hopper and Kat Graham joining the cast.

Mark Steven Johnson is writing and directing the film, which he will also produce alongside Off Camera Entertainment’s Margret Huddleston and Stephanie Slack.

The film follows a young woman who takes a trip to Verona, Italy, following a breakup and is forced to share her vacation with a cynical British man after finding out the villa she had reserved was double-booked.

"‎The setting will be the streets, squares, the historic center of our city and other locations such as Juliet's House, the Tomb and many ‎others," said Federico Sboarina, mayor of Verona.

L’Councilor for heritage of the municipality of Verona, Andrea Bassi added: “The mayor Federico Sboarina and his cultural colleague Francesca Briani immediately sensed the important opportunity for the image of the city and, needing the staff of a rather large and central location, as Heritage Councilor I immediately got to work offering as operational base the former headquarters of the National Deaf Organization (at the Cloister of Sant’Eufemia, in the historic center).”

Love in the Villa will premiere on Netflix in 2022.
