Production gets underway today, 11 October, on Midas Man, a biopic of iconic music manager Brian Epstein, known as ‘the fifth Beatle’. The 12-week shoot takes place in Liverpool, London and the US.
Jonas Åkerlund directs from a screenplay by Jonathan Wakeham, based on a screen story by Brigit Grant.
Kevin Proctor and Perry Trevers produce for StudioPOW alongside Trevor Beattie and Jeremy Chatterton for Trevor Beattie Films and Richard Holmes.
Peter Dunne, Nicola Pearcey and Mark Borkowski join Sunny Vohra and Jeremy Rainbird as executive producers; the casting director is Dan Hubbard.
Jacob Fortune-Lloyd plays Epstein with Emily Watson as his mother, Queenie, and Eddie Marsan as his father Harry. Charley Palmer plays George Martin and Jordan Kelly is Gerry Marsden. Lukas Gage plays Epstein's love interest Tex Ellington, a composite of various real people Epstein encountered through his life.
Best known for his discovery of The Beatles, Epstein created a cultural explosion during the 1960s, finding and nurturing other iconic acts such as Cilla Black and Gerry and the Pacemakers.
