The British Film Commission and the Spain Film Commission have pledged to work ever more closely together to increase the number of film and TV productions that shoot in both the UK and Spain.

The two national commissions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today (October 21) in Valladolid. The organisations have already been collaborating during the Covid-19 pandemic to help facilitate travel and production between the UK and Spain for several major TV series.

Both countries are also in the middle of a production boom driven by their fiscal incentives, strong crews, facilities, locations and infrastructure.

The commissions have collaborated recently on ensuring the smooth passage to production of two high-budget footloose US films: Disney/ Marvel’s Eternals, which was based at Pinewood Studios and shot on location in London and Oxford in England and in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands; and Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman: 1984, which was based at Warner Bros’ Leavesden Studios and on location in London, Cambridgeshire, Andalucía and the Canary Islands.

“We wish to share common actions with the BFC aimed at creating bridges between the Spanish and British industry,” said Carlos Rosado, president of the Spain Film Commission.

“We are delighted to build upon our positive and fruitful relationship with the Spain Film Commission through this agreement. Now is an exciting time for the global film and high-end TV industry, with the demand for filmed content at an all-time high, and the opportunities for all growing,” added Adrian Wootton, chief executive of the BFC
