Spain, France, and Chile co-production, The Movie Teller, starring Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War, Inglorious Basterds), is set to film in Chile from March.
Directed by BAFTA nominee Scherfig (An Education), The Movie Teller sees Brühl star as Nansen, a European outsider who, via his restraint and diplomacy, earns the respect of the families he encounters at a Chilean mine before embarking on a relationship with a local woman, María Magnolia (played by Berenice Bejo).
The family drama is based on Hernán Rivera Letelier’s award-winning autobiography, which was first adapted by Walter Salles and Rafa Russo.
Spain’s A Contracorriente Films, France’s Selenium Films and Chile’s Al Tiro Films will co-produce, with UK-based Embankment to executive produce.
Filming will get underway on 21 March on location in Pedro de Valdivia in the Atacama Desert.
