Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes live-action/animated hybrid film, Coyote vs Acme, will begin shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1 April, with the animation to take place in London, KFTV has uncovered.

The adaptation, starring John Cena, is based on the Looney Tunes cartoon characters Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, as well as Ian Frazier's New Yorker article Coyote vs Acme, which follows an age-old rivalry between the Roadrunner nemesis and his preferred mail-order supplier.

Cena will play the human attorney, Wile E. Coyote, who hires a billboard lawyer to sue the ACME Corporation after their products fail him in his pursuit of the Roadrunner, but finds he is up against his former intimidating boss. In determination to win the case the pair gradually develop an unexpected friendship.

Dave Green (Earth to Echo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) is directing from a screenplay by Samy Burch.

James Gunn will produce under his banner Two Monkeys, A Goat and Another, Dead, Monkey, alongside Christopher DeFaria, with Casten H.W Lorenz serving as exec producer.

Coyote vs Acme is set for worldwide release on 21 July, 2023.
