Antony Tulloch has been appointed as the new CEO of Docklands Studios Melbourne, replacing Rod Allan who retires in March.

Tulloch will leave his post as general manager of studio operations at the Iskandar Malaysia Studios.

He joins the Melbourne studios at a busy time with a number of major productions slated to shoot there in 2022, including Amazon’s sci-fi thriller Foe, NBC’s hit drama La Brea (Season 2) and Robbie Williams’ biopic Better Man. Plus the studio is expanding with a new super stage to accomodate all the productions.

Tulloch told KFTV: “I am genuinely delighted to be returning to Melbourne to join the Docklands Studios Melbourne team and take up the CEO position. Big shoes to fill, well done Rod, a fantastic job.”

Board chair David Hanna said: “Antony Tulloch takes the reins at an exciting time for the studio, with the imminent opening of a new super stage that will expand stage capacity by more than 60 per cent and enable the facility to host bigger productions than ever before.”

Minister for creative industries Danny Pearson added: “Docklands Studios Melbourne and the wider Victorian screen industry are well positioned to meet booming global demand for screen content. With our new $46 million super soundstage and $191.5 million VICSCREEN strategy, we’re investing in the future of our screen industry and creating thousands of jobs."

Other notable projects to shoot at the studios in recent years include Netflix thriller Clickbait, Paramount Television’s Shantaram and the first instalment of NBC’s La Brea.
