Netflix series, Transatlantic, gets underway in Marseille, France

The drama is the first project under Anna Winger & Airlift Productions' creative partnership with the streaming platform.

Production is underway in Marseille on Netflix’s Transatlantic, starring Gillian Jacobs (Community), Corey Stroll (West Side Story) and Gregory Montel (Call My Agent!).

Transatlantic is produced by Anna Winger & Camille McCurry under her banner Airlift Productions. The adaptation is inspired by Julie Orringer's novel, The Flight Portfolio, about the true story of Varian Fry, Mary Jayne Gold and the Emergency Rescue Committee.

Risking their lives to help more than 2000 refugees escape occupied France, including many artists on the Nazis' most-wanted list, the series follows an international gang of young superheroes and their famous charges who occupy a villa at the edge of the city, where the threat of mortal danger gives way to unexpected collaborations and intense love affairs.

Winger will also serve as showrunner, with Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond set to direct the series.

The project will be shot in the English, German and French languages and feature an international cast, also including Lucas Englander, Cory Michael Smith, Ralph Amoussou, Deleila Piasko, Amit Rahav and Corey Stoll.
