Creative UK announces £1 million worth of investment in new Dimension studio

Creative UK has welcomed Dimension Studio to its investment portfolio through the not-for-profit organisation’s Growth Finance Fund.

Initially launched as VR studio Hammerhead in 2014, the studio rebranded to Dimension in 2020 - which facilitates the creation of virtual worlds, digital humans and volumetric content for the entertainment landscape.

The studio has since yielded new forms of storytelling across the industry which caters to films, games, sports, music videos, fashion and Metaverse worlds. 

Most recently, Dimension has been at the forefront of virtual production services for Disney’s live-action remake of the 1940 animated classic Pinocchio - which will star Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr. and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

It has also served on the Balenciaga - Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow video game and Coldplay x BTS 'My Universe' holograms.

Speaking about the partnership, Mehjabeen Patrick, chief investment officer of creative UK, said: “We are delighted to make a second investment into Dimension Studio through our Creative Growth Finance fund. 

“We’ve been working in partnership with Dimension for six years and in that time they’ve grown from strength to strength, solidifying their position as a global leader in the immersive content sector. This latest round is a testament to the value we place on long-term partnerships with our investee companies,” she added.

Simon Windsor, co-founder and co-CEO of Dimension highlighted the significance of innovative content in today’s increasing digital landscape: “Creative UK understands the importance of investing in new forms of creative content and has supported us in reaching the levels of unprecedented growth we’re experiencing today. 

“This further investment enables Dimension to continue to expand its capabilities and advance market opportunities that embrace the metaverse, volumetric filmmaking and virtual production,” he said.
