Finland readying brand-new Kajawood Studios for early 2023

Finalnd's Kajawood Studios is described as a ‘bubble’ compound where filmmakers can access a range of pre, post and production facilities as part of an ‘all-in-one’ solution.

The studio model - conceived by producers Miika J. Norvanto and Timo Puustinen - combines LED screen and technical capabilities, designed facilities and concept-production-to-distribution facilitation. Together with four-seasons landscapes, financial assistance and a 25% rebate - with a view to optimise production at every level.

Currently under construction - with completion expected in early 2023 - Norvanto and Puustinen have built an efficiency-led studio ecosystem which is located one hour and a half away from Helsinki by plane, and is set to welcome productions on an international scale.

The bubble studio destination provides filmmakers and actors with accommodation including hotels, single cabins, chalets and studio apartments — located within walking distance of all studio lots and facilities. 

The studio lots include three soundstages: 2080 sqm, 420 sqm, 256 sqm, with the largest standing 14m tall. An office building including over 2500 sqm of space, editing rooms, VFX-departments, make-up department, restaurant and catering services are also available in the studio village.

Kajawood Studios is currently developing in-house projects including genre and indie feature films, as well as international projects such as the upcoming KARL - a biopic about fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld — based on an original screenplay by Laurent Germain Maury and Jean-Marc Michelangeli, inspired by Marie Ottavi’s book of the same name.

It will also welcome a new docuseries titled Pressure Seekers - which is about two worlds: high mountain summits and deep water - which usually never meet - until one nature lover and freediver decides to bridge together the antithetical realms. 

Season One of Pressure Seekers is a 30-day adventure beginning in the French Pyrénées and finishing in Spain - including stopovers in Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bosnia, and Croatia which will all play host to the expedition. Season One will begin filming in mid-September 2022.

Season two is a 6-8-week journey from Poland to Iceland, including stopovers in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
