This is the first European incentive to offer an eco bonus, and streaming productions will also be supported

The Austrian government has approved a new film production incentive to attract more international film and TV projects to the country.
This model, which will come into force as of 1 January 2023, will include a non-repayable 35% subsidy of spend reported in Austria on productions, 5% of which will relate to climate-friendly criteria.
Films and series of any length, and international TV and streaming co-productions will be favoured. The incentive will not be limited in time and have a budgetary cap.
The maximum amount of the subsidy is €5m per film and €7.5m for series.
Grants for international service productions will be available under the title FISA+. Production service companies based in Austria involved in the project can apply for this scheme.
Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu, chairman of the trade association Film and Music Austria (FAMA), said: 'It's a true precision landing! The fact that the funding system itself is not capped is a real sensation. This means that in the future, there will no longer be a race to submit funding applications. Instead, you release the brakes on creative potential.'
'The additional 5% green bonus is unique in Europe. Austria is a pioneer here', Ivanceanu added.
