Production on The Old Guard 2 has wrapped in Rome for Netflix.

The sequel began filming in June earlier this year and also filmed in the UK.

It is a direct follow up to the 2020 action-fantasy film, which is based on Greg Rucka's graphic novel series. It follows a group of veteran soldiers from various periods of history with self-healing abilities, who are now spending their lives as world-traveling mercenaries who fight to protect their secret after learning someone is privy to their powers.

Taking to Instagram with a production update, Henry Golding, who joins the cast, shared a picture of himself in Italy's capital. He captioned the post: “Rome, you were wonderful... But time to say Ciao! The Old Guard 2 is going to be a banger, can't wait for you guys to see it.“

Charlize Theron reprises her role as Andy, and Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli return as Joe and Nicky. KiKi Layne will also return as Nile alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Veronica Ngo as Quynh.

Alongside new cast member Golding, Uma Thurman also joins the cast, with both characters to be revealed. Details about the sequel are expected to be revealed at Netflix's global fan event TUDUM this weekend (24 Sep).

The sequel is helmed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay written by Greg Rucka and David Ellison. Dana Goldberg and Don Granger produce for Skydance; Denver's producers are Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix; and Marc Evans Productions' producers are Delilah and Marc Evans. Rucka will also serve as executive producer.
