Robert De Niro's mob drama Wise Guys filming in Ohio for Warner Bros.

Filming is underway in Cincinnati, Ohio on Robert De Niro's mob drama, Wise Guys, for Warner Bros. 

Wise Guys is a period piece which tells the story of Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, a pair of Italian Americans running two separate crime families during the mid-20th century. Genovese tried and failed to assassinate Costello in 1957, though the latter wound up taking his leave from the mob after being injured during the attempt on his life.

De Niro is playing both leads, therefore set to star opposite himself.

Local outlet Fox19 reports filming commenced on Friday 9 December and will run for seven days in Warren County.

A permit letter sent to local residents, obtained by the publication reads: “[Warner Bros.'] filming is scheduled to take place on December 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. The bulk of our film work on those dates will occur at the intersection of State Rte. 123 and Rte. 40 (Morrow-Blackhawk Rd.)“, signed Brendan Flynn, key assistant location manager, Warner Bros.

The upcoming feature is penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi, who co-wrote Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas and is directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man). The Rocky franchise’s Irwin Winkler serves as a producer.
