Transformers director and Lazarus Project creator work up A+E Studios’ bounty hunter series.
American film director Michael Bay has with The Lazarus Project writer Joe Barton for an Amazon Prime bounty hunter drama series.
The as-yet untitled project centres on an American bounty hunter working South of the US border, who finds himself in a fight for survival when the man he’s been chasing down lands them both in trouble with a Mexican cartel.
Bay said he was inspired by spending time with a former US federal agent living in Costa Rica. It remains to be seen where filming will take place.
The project comes from A+E Studios, in association with Range Studios and Amazon Studios, with Barton executive producing alongside Bay and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes, Range Media Partners and Wise Entertainment.
It is the latest project for the Bafta-nominated writer Joe Barton, who is best known for BBC/Netflix crime drama Giri/Haji, Netflix’s TheBastard Son and The Devil Himself and Sky/HBO Max’s The Lazarus Project, on which he is currently in production on series two. He has also penned Bad Robot’s latest instalment of Paramount Pictures’ Cloverfield movie franchise.
Action movie director Bay is executive producer on Prime series Tom Clancy’s Jack Reacher and his films include Armageddon, The Rock, Ambulance and the Transformers franchise.
