Massive expansion plans approved for the UK's iconic Pinewood Studios

The expansion plan for the UK's Pinewood Studios is now set to go ahead after Buckinghamshire Council approved the submission.  

The 1.4m sq ft expansion comprises 21 new purpose-built sound stages, a backlot filming space, education and training hub and a publicly-accessible nature reserve. 

The large-scale development will create more than 8,000 new jobs and is expected to raise £640 million a year for the UK economy. Once the work is complete, Pinewood Studios will be the biggest studio complex in the world, with a total of 51 purpose-built stages.

The planning consent will also deliver a 63-acre nature reserve at Alderbourne Farm, north of the existing studio site. The publicly-accessible community asset will protect existing habitats and enhance local biodiversity, as well as provide new footpaths.
