Production on Marvel Studios' Captain America: New World Order is officially underway in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to the Midgard Times, filming began yesterday (27 March) at Trilith Studios in Atlanta and is expected to wrap almost four months later on 21 July.

The fourth film in the Captain America franchise will see Anthony Mackie reprise his role as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's (FWS) Sam Wilson, marking the actor's first time as a lead in a Marvel feature.

New World Order will also see Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings trilogy) return to the MCU, 15 years after starring in 2008's The Incredible Hulk as Betty Ross.

The fourth instalment also stars Harrison Ford, who plays General Thaddeus Ross (replacing the late William Hurt) and will continue Sam's story following the events in FWS which saw him accepting the shield Captain (Chris Evans) bestowed at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Further plot details remain under wraps.

FWS creator and head writer, Malcolm Spellman co-wrote the script alongside Dalan Musson, with Julius Onah (Luce) directing the film.

Rounding out the cast is Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier. Together with Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/The Leader; Danny Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Shira Hass is Sabra, Carl Lundry is Isaiah Bradley, and Xosha Roquemore stars in an undisclosed role.
