Production on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning has wrapped after three years of staggered filming.
The film’s director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed the end of production on Instagram on Saturday (April 29).
Posting alongside a monochrome behind-the-scenes snap, McQuarrie wrote: “To the greatest crew there ever was and ever will be; Those who weren’t there will never understand. Those who were will never forget. With sincerest thanks and unfathomable gratitude, not only to you but to your families and loved ones, safe travels and a richly deserved rest. That’s (officially) a wrap on Dead Reckoning Part I.“
He ended the caption with the hashtag “#PartTwoAwaits“.
McQuarrie initially announced filming finished back in September of 2021, so it is assumed the crew have wrapped post-production, given Dead Reckoning Part 1 is being released this summer by Paramount Pictures.
The first instalment will end on a cliff-hanger, where both films serve as a swansong for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character.
M:I 7 Part One is written and directed by McQuarrie. Producers are Cruise and McQuarrie. Executive producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Tommy Gormley. Skydance produced the film, replacing Bad Robot Productions, who was attached to previous three films.
Filming began in Italy in February 2020 but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed later that year and concluded in September 2021 with other filming locations, including Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.
Production on Part Two commenced in March 2022 in the UK. Other locations included Malta, South Africa and Norway and is scheduled for release in 2024.
