Ascent Studios in North Carolina in the building a large movie studio project in Spring Hope, near Rocky Mount.
The facility will be located on 200 acres in Spring Hope and features five production stages at 170,000 square feet. This makes it the North Carolina's largest film studio. Completion is scheduled for late 2023.
Productions that take place in Ascent Studios will get a 25% tax rebate on expenses and purchases that qualify. The tax rebate scheme is funded by the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant.
"Ascent Studios is more than just a film studio," filmmaker and co-founder Rob Rippberger said in a release. "It's a creative hub, a place where artists can come together and collaborate on new and exciting projects. We can't wait to see what amazing work will come out of here."
Rippenberger, with with Foliascope Studios and Capobianco, created a sustainable stop-motion facility studio in France. The New Ascent Studios will likewise prioritise sustainability practices.
Ascent plans to offer interior space for filming as well as new technology to facilitate a variety of productions. Due to its location, Ascent also features landscapes for on-location shooting, including fields, forests and lakes.
Two films are already set to shoot at Ascent Studios Rippberger's thriller Renner is one, while the second remains unannounced.
