Alec Baldwin has wrapped production in Montana on the long-delayed Western Rust.
On Monday (May 22) Baldwin shared a photo to Instagram of his two cast members — Patrick Scott McDermott and Frances Fisher — sitting together in costume as he announced the film's completion.
"Last day of filming RUST in Montana," the actor began the caption.
"Sorry that I did not get to work with this living legend, the great @francesfisher. Patrick, I envy you.
"It’s been a long and difficult road. But we reach the end of the trail today. Congratulations to Joel, Bianca and the entire cast and crew."
He closed on: "Nothing less than a miracle."
Baldwin resumed filming Rust at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Paradise Valley, Montana in April.
It marked his return to the stalled project after he fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while rehearsing a scene for the film at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico back in October 2021.
The story of the independent Western, set in 1880s Kansas, revolves around a 13-year-old boy who must take care of himself and his younger brother after the death of their parents. He "goes on the run with his long estranged grandfather after he's sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher," according to a plot summary on IMDb.
Baldwin plays the grandfather, an outlaw named Harland Rust. The actor compared the film to Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning revisionist Western Unforgiven in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year.
The western is written and directed by Joel Souza, who was also injured by a bullet which passed through Hutchins and lodged in his shoulder. Bianca Cline joined the production in February this year as new cinematographer. Baldwin also serves as producer.
