Peru's Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has established the Executive Bureau for the Promotion of Peru as a Destination for Filming Locations with the aim of attracting international productions, identifying and proposing solutions to barriers to this development, and propose benefits to those interested in Peru as a filming location.
Recent productions to shoot in Peru include Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (pictured), Netflix's Don't Look Up, and of course the upcoming Paddington in Peru.
The decision to launch a board with this specific goal stems from the experiences of other countries across the South American region according to the MEF.
The Directorate of Audiovisual, Phonography, and New Media at Uruguay's Ministry of Culture recorded that for every US Dollar invested in a production, a positive impact of US$1.65 is generated in the rest of the economy.
The Executive Bureau for the Promotion of Peru as a Destination for Filming Locations is temporary and will be composed of a Chair and representatives of the following institutions:
Professionals from the public and private sector with relevant experience and specialisms may also be invited to collaborate with the initiative and to participate in the meetings.
