M Night Shyamalan's thriller Trap sets Cincinnati, Ohio shoot

Production on M Night Shyamalan's mystery thriller Trap is set to commence in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA this month.

The project comes after Warner Bros Pictures Group's co-chairs CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy signed a multi-year first-look directing and producing agreement with the director in February this year.

Per Deadline's initial report, the new agreement will see Shyamalan and his Philadelphia-based outfit Blinding Edge Pictures develop original projects for the filmmaker to produce and/or direct for WBPG production divisions Warner Bros Pictures and New Line Cinema.

First in the production pipeline is Trap which is slated for theatrical release on August 2, 2024. Filming is expected to start this August in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Also in the pipeline is The Watchers which marks the directorial debut of his daughter Ishana Night and is scheduled to start production later this year for a summer 2024 release.

“Where I write and direct is my home,” Shyamalan said in a statement announcing the new deal in February.

Through its recent experiences, the company has rediscovered its love and appreciation for filmmakers, and the impact of the theatrical experience. We all win when movies succeed in theatres. I believe David Zaslav, Michael De Luca, and Pam Abdy have dedicated themselves to unique filmmakers, and to filling theatres all around the world for years to come.”
